Jon Lukin, '17, Media Services Initially, it felt like being called to the principal's oce. Summoned by his direct supervisors, Eric Feibel and Steve omas, student employee Jon Lukin, '17, entered the Media Services oce to nd not only his two supervisors, but also his supervisors' supervisor, Lisa Grosshart, director of Media Services – enough to jangle even the best employee's nerves. Ms. Soloway, administrative assistant in the Oce of Student Employment, had the distinct pleasure of presenting Jon his well-earned Student of the Year award, complete with balloons and a gi basket. Ms. Grosshart was pleased with his selection. "My sta nominated Jon for the award as one of our most outstanding students because of his dedication and availability. He's a forward- thinking team player." "Receiving the award was really emotional for me," said Jon. "I've put a lot of eort into my three years of working with sta in Media Services. Eric has taken me under his wing, mentored me. It's almost like I'm getting a double education. I'm working a job and earning a paycheck, but getting free training in a eld other than my major." "Jon is a hard-working, honest employee who takes his work seriously," wrote Eric Feibel in his nomination letter, which details Jon's technical savvy. "Moreover, he is a source of inspiration for other employees who want to get the best out of their job duties … His contributions have made a lasting impact on this university." "Honestly, I think the whole team rivals the professional vendors who come to campus, because we tailor our work to the needs of the university," said Jon. A double major in history and communications with an education minor, Jon is even considering changing his career aspiration and moving more toward audio/visual technology. Working with Media Services is, said Jon,one of the best opportunities I've ever had." v 2 Students of the Year Outcomes 14 Star Performers In any other year, "Student of the Year" refers to one stellar student employee. In 2015, however, the Student of the Year Committee, chaired by Sonya Soloway, collectively decided that the field was too rich and could not be narrowed down to just one star. They decided to award three students for their star performance as the 2015 Students (plural!) of the Year. Reliability, quality of work, initiative, disposition and contribution are among the qualities attributed to the following three student employees, all from IT. "Jon is a forward-thinking team player." – Lisa Grosshart Director of media services Outcomes 2015
