technology perspective and gives a shout out to Lisa Grosshart, director, along with Steve omas and Harris Bloomwald. Students can now sit in a treatment room, conduct a practice session with another student and receive one-on-one instruction from the professor, who observes from the high-tech control room. All of this can be live-streamed into the classroom. "e control room is the brain of the lab," said Mr. Drowne. "It houses audio equipment and the server that stores the recordings. e server rack has 34 microphones, which is how an instructor can speak to each individual in each room, can see students on camera and offer feedback." Vice President of Operations Karen Jason and her team handled the physical logistics, repurposing the five existing spaces into the new lab. is involved carpentry, electrical work, painting and insulating, whatever it took to get the physical space up and running on time and on budget. "Everyone in FM&P touched this project," said Ms. Jason, listing Keith Macdonald, director of Physical Plants; Mike Galego, assistant director Operations Center; and Chris Maguy, staff assistant, as key to its success. "I worked with amazing people," said Dr. Bacon, "in both IT and FM&P." Of staff in IT, she said, "ey listened carefully. I understood exactly what we needed for accreditation and how it should function. ey understood how to negotiate with vendors. IT never said something couldn't be done. It was always, 'Ok, we have multiple solutions. We'll make this happen.'" Dr. Bacon has high praise for Ms. Jason. "Karen made the repurposing of the space happen," said Dr. Bacon. "She knew we needed this lab, and she understood the urgency of the deadline." Almost as if in response, Ms. Jason said, "Although this project came on quickly because of the accreditation deadline, everyone rose to the occasion, and we beat our deadline." OPPORTUNITIES.
